The 2014 Primary School Tournament reached is culmination on Saturday night as teams from Marina View Primary and Dairy Flat School (in Rippa) and Whangaparora Primary and Red Beach Primary (in Tackle) contested two very entertaining finals as the curtain raiser to the QBE Harbour game.
In the Rippa final, Marina View showed they know what it is all about, with some great tries and real flair to run out the winners on the day. The tackle final was a very different scenario with a closely contested match that kept the crowd on the edge of their seat. Whilst both team had their chances a 1 try a piece draw was the end result and so both teams shared the spoils.
If ever their was a cliché that was appropriate, it was the “rugby was the winner on the day”. All 4 teams had a blast as was evident by the smiles on the kids faces throughout the evening.
