The North Harbour Junior Rugby Committee (JRC) is pleased to advise the winners and runners-up of the 2018 Junior Rugby Sportsmanship Programme. Each club nominated a team who demonsrtrated Sportsmanship qualities in each grade group - J1-J3, J4-J6, J7/J8 and Girls Rippa. The JRC Sportsmanship Programme Convenor Tony Forward assisted by club officials observed the nominated teams and coaches scoring in several categories including wearing club uniform with pride, discipline on and off the pitch, good knowledge of the rules, accepting referees decisions, positive support by spectators, fairness to the opposition, enthusiasm for the games values, spirit and traditions, encouraging positiveness in the team and supporters and, all players getting an equal opportunity.

The J1-J3, J4-J6, J7/J8 grade trophies have been in place for several decades and indeed the J1-J3 trophy dates from 1956 as an Auckland RU trophy but was transferred to North Harbour RU in 1985. The North Harbour Rugby Supporters Club has kindly offered to purchase and engrave a Sportsmanship trophy for the Girls Rippa grades and the JRC thanks President Kevin Davies and his members for their generous donation to junior rugby.
