Harbour Rugby pays tribute to club and union stalwart, Chris Smith

It is with great sadness that Harbour Rugby acknowledges the passing of Massey High School, Massey Rugby Club, and Harbour stalwart, Chris Smith, after long battles with his health.

Chris had been a long-term supporter and sponsor of Massey Rugby and Harbour since the start of the union, and his contributions have been huge throughout the years, including sponsorship through Sentra Print, and providing a son to our forward pack. Front-rower Adrian Smith has been a valuable and versatile member of the Harbour squad since his debut in 2002, and is no stranger to picking up more than a few tries (including a hat-trick last season!) when he turns out for his beloved “Massey Mafia”, where he has played over 100 Premier games.

Chris was heavily involved the Massey High School Foundation which was formed to help raise money for the school through charity auctions and luncheons. He was also hugely passionate about his golf and was a very popular member of the Huapai Golf Club.

Our deepest condolences go out to Chris’s wife, Rhonda, his daughters Chiara and Natalie, and Adrian, partner Ofa and son Ryder, and all family and friends.

As good friend and former Harbour President Ray Diver put it,
"A bloody good bugger, who will be sorely missed".

RIP Chris.
