North Harbour Rugby announces new Chairman

North Harbour Rugby Union has announced that Deputy Chairman Gary Howarth has been appointed the new Chairman.  He takes over from Shaun Nixon, who has served on the Board for seven years, four of those as Chair.

Gary says, “I’m very honoured to take on the role of Chair and would like to thank Shaun for his excellent contribution to Harbour Rugby, including during a huge period of structural change and financial stability over the years, and for his ongoing assistance.”

“I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.  We have a strong Board with excellent staff.  North Harbour has always produced strong rugby talent, which I look forward to continuing, as well as growing the grassroots player base.  It will be an exciting season ahead.”

Shaun, who indicated to the Board that 2018 would be his last year as Chair said “I am very pleased for Gary, he is the right person to lead the Union and will do all I can to support him”.

North Harbour is also pleased to announce that Leanne Cate (Director of NixonCate chartered accountants) and Jonathan Coleman (former MP and CEO of Acurity Health Group) will be joining the Board as Independent Directors.
