North Harbour Amateur Representative Rugby Report – 14/15 October

On Sunday 15 October Harbour Hibiscus played second placed Otago Spirit in the Farah Palmer Cup championship division and lost 15-34 at QBE Stadium with tries to Claire Erasmus, Caitlyn Cox and Sophie Fisher kicking a conversion and a penalty.  Semi-finals are on Saturday 21 October with the Hibiscus travelling to Dunedin to face Otago again for the 2nd vs 3rd semi-final.

Te Raki Pae Whenua North Harbour Maori representative teams played in the Te Hiku O Te Ika Northern Region Maori Tournament finals on Saturday 14 October at Rotorua. The U17 team continued their winning way to beat Tamaki Makaurau Auckland 34-13 in the final and the Maori Seniors lost to Te Awaiariki Bay of Plenty 15-42 in their final.

The North Harbour Roller Mills team finished 8th in the 2017 tournament held at the wonderful facilities at St Peters College, Cambridge.  Harbour finished 3rd in their pool with wins over Taranaki and Thames Valley and losses to Auckland West and Bay of Plenty.  In the semi-finals on Saturday Harbour went down to Northland 12-57 then faced Taranaki again in the 7th/8th final on Sunday.  Taranaki scored first but Harbour came back at them and mid-way through second half they were tied up 17 all.   Harbour were hot on attack but an intercept by Taranaki resulted in a try and Taranaki put the result beyond doubt with a try down the outside to win 29-17.
