North Harbour Amateur Representative Rugby Report – 30 September

Harbour Men’s B played their final fixture of the season on Saturday 30 September at East Coast Bays RFC and celebrated with an overwhelming 68-17 win scoring 10 tries over neighbours Northland.   Northland started well scoring first after 6 mins and were really up for it until the Harbour men found a few holes. The match was played at pace and Northland were matching our men all the way until the 30th min. Harbour had scored 4 tries with Todd Doolan adding 4 conversions, but a mis-match in defence for Harbour saw Northland sneak in another on half time.  A stern message from the Harbour coaches saw the boys run riot scoring another 6 tries with Todd Doolan adding 5 more conversions for a haul of 18 points. Harbour tries came from Nick Smith 2, Kane Jacobson 2 (player on the day), Mark Royal, Danny Drake, Gannon Moore, Fraser Conway, Pierre Pili, Lua Li. Harbour B’s finished a creditable third in the Northern Region to Taranaki and Auckland with five wins and two close losses for a great season.

The North Harbour Roller Mills team commenced their campaign on Saturday 30 September with a 24-36 loss to Auckland West at East Coast Bays RFC in their first competition game.  Harbour was down 12-31 at half-time in the curtain-raiser to the Men’s B game but with the wind behind them pushed back the aggressive Westies to go close but a late try to Auckland West secured the game.   Point scorers were Lemoto Lousiale (2) (East Coast Bays), Tyler Whinney (East Coast Bays)  tries and Cody Beale (Northcote) a conversion, with a penalty try awarded.  The remaining games will be played in the Tournament 10-15 October at St Peters College, Cambridge in the Waikato.  Harbour will play Taranaki at 3pm on Tuesday,  Bay of Plenty at 12.45pm on Wednesday, have a bye on the Thursday and play Thames Valley on Friday at 12.15pm in pool play.  Semi -finals/play-offs are on Saturday 14 October and Finals Sunday 15 October.
