North Harbour Club Rugby Round-Up – 28 July

North Harbour Club Rugby Round-Up – 28 July

With the Premier and U21 finals completed 21 July and both Womens teams knocked out of finals contention, the Under 85Kg grade is now closing in on the end of their second round with one game to go and the standings have become very interesting.

Third placed Massey knocked over the high-flying Silverdale side 29-8 completely reversing the first round result with a very convincing bonus point win out west to jump into top spot on the table and are looking good for the finals. Northcote edged Helensville 13-10 at the ‘Ville who were in their last game of the season putting on a solid performance.   Kumeu held out North Shore 13-11 at Riverhead and East Coast Bays travelled to Warkworth and finished in front 24-19 in another close game.

Takapuna had the bye and remain in joint second place with Silverdale on 54 points with mighty Massey finishing well in the second round going on top with 55 points.  Kumeu is close behind the top three in 4th place on 49 with the top 4 secure now but the finishing order is a raffle.   North Shore on 44 will top the Plate section with Northcote and East Coast Bays on 28 and Mahurangi on 21.  Helensville picked up a close second bonus point to finish on 6 and drop out of finals contention.  The last round of games in the second round this Saturday 4 August has East Coast Bays hosting Takapuna – the Blue and Golds want a win to get a home semi-final, Massey away to Northcote also hoping to take the win to secure top spot for the vital home semi-final, Silverdale hosting Kumeu to decide if Silverdale get a home-semi-final too, and Mahurangi making the big trip to North Shore. Helensville have the bye.  Championship and Plate semi-finals are on 11 August at the top seed club with finals also at the top seed club on 18 August.

The Presidents grade resumed after Premier finals and work towards finals day 18 August at Kumeu.
