North Harbour Representative Round-Up for 13 October

North Harbour Representative Round-Up for 13 October

The last round of North Harbour Amateur Representative fixtures for 2018 was played Saturday 13 October and the young Te Raki Paewhenua Under 17 team were just edged by Counties Manukau 13-15 in Rotorua to finish runner-up in the Te Hiku o te Ika Northern Region Maori tournament.  Tries were scored by Carlos Phillipps and Jordan Cowper with Jordan kicking a penalty. Playing in the biggest division in the tournament the boys gave a very good account of themselves, winning everything all the way to the final but Counties just came out on top.  The Maori Seniors had a hard ask in their final coming up against a slick and well drilled Bay of Plenty side and went down 5-62.  They showed a lot of heart and pride despite the score-line.

The Harbour Hibiscus Women travelled to Porirua to play Wellington in the Farah Palmer Cup Championship division semi-final and were in the running at half-time but top of the division Wellington got away on them to win 7-33.  A try to Pia Tapsell which was converted by Sophie Fisher.

The Roller Mills team finished 6th in the annual tournament held in Cambridge going down 17-32 to Waikato in their 5th/6th play-off on finals day at St Peters College.  Waikato got out to a big lead in the first half and Harbour responded with a strong second half but playing catch-up footie was too much in the end.  Tries went to Regan Ross, TJ Blignaut and Amir Soeker with Harry Tu’isila adding the extras.  Player of the day was Rico Clarke.  The boys had a tough tournament winning just the one game but as always represented the Union well.
