Game Highlights

With a semi-final place on the line North Harbour needed to start strong, which is exactly what they did. Wellington threw the sink at Harbour early, attacking our line in an up-front battle, however our forwards deafened well and worked their way out of trouble. Harbour then raced out to a solid lead through tries to Nathan Vaatausili (2) and Isaac Nonoa and an accurate kicking display from Jack Bergin. However, going into the break with Harbour up 17-15 the game was anyone’s to win. The second half saw both teams landing blows and with 5 minutes to go it was tied up at 27 all. North Harbour kept their composure and showed great courage to take the game 30-27. An outstanding effort by all.

Game Highlights

From the outset Auckland A had a stronger mindset and also used their physical strength to maintain dominance for 70 minutes. North Harbour showed their potential in patches, breaking the line through our midfield combination on a number of occasions. Although Auckland A had the weight advantage in the scrums, our pack held, and on a number of occasions gained ascendancy at scrum time. Still, full credit to Auckland A for a complete performance at QBE Stadium.

Game Highlights

North Harbour got the start they wanted with early pressure being rewarded with a kickable penalty, slotted by Jack Bergin in the first few minutes. The ascendency continued throughout the first half with Harbour scoring 22 unanswered points before the break, due in part to excellent scrummaging and tight forward dominance.

After a flat patch early in the second half our loose forwards combined well with our backs to help Harbour run away with a five try to one victory. The win places Harbour in the premiership division in the tournament. Goal one achieved.

The North Harbour U19s got off to an early flier racking up 22 points in the first half. They maintained good discipline and stuck to their well planned structures. However Auckland Development came back hard in the second half, putting pressure on Harbour and scoring 19 points in quick succession. Harbour regrouped with 5 to go and scored a couple of late tries to end the match.
