The Junior Rugby Committee has collated their sportsmanship observations and are pleased to advise that 2016 has been a difficult task as the standards of sportsmanship are improving and the clubs and teams are putting in a lot of effort to drive up those standards. The following results are advised for 2016:
J1-J3 Winner – Mahurangi J3 (Coach Mark Loheni)
J1-J3 Runner up – Silverdale J3 Green (Coach Jamie Schedewy)
J4-J6 Winner – East Coast Bays J6 White (Coach Kris Cunningham)
J4-J6 Runner up – Kumeu Girls Rippa (Coach Jeremy Butler)
J7/J8 Winner – Takapuna J8 Blue (Coach Aaron Ewing)
J7/J8 Runner up – Northcote J7 Gold (Coach Bevan Williamson)
The Junior Tournament Sportsmanship Award (Marty Martinengo Trophy) was awarded to North Shore overall, with a creditable runner-up in Kumeu.
The North Harbour Junior Rugby Committee congratulates the winners and runners-up and their coaches and acknowledges that the achievement is very much a team effort not only by the coaches, but also the team managers and players who buy into the values and standards of demonstrating good sportsmanship and to the club committees who promote those standards and deliver the message to all stakeholders.
