2016 Secondary School Grades Finals 27 August

The 2016 Secondary School Grades Finals were held at QBE Stadium Oval and North Harbour Domain fields with B and C grade finals at the top seeded schools plus our first North Harbour school team Whangaparaoa crossed the Bridge to contest the Wider Auckland Under 69Kg B grade final against Pukekohe at Auckland Marist rugby club going down 0-7. Mahurangi 1^st XV was ahead 7-5 in the 1B final on the Oval with minutes to go and Westlake 2^nd XV scored a late try to take the 1B shield. A fast and well drilled Kaipara 1^st XV trounced hapless Massey 2^nd XV 39-0 to win the 1C final. Orewa 2^nd XV just edged Rosmini 3^rd XV to win the 2^nd Grade 8-7. It was nil all in the 4A final until Rangitoto kicked a penalty early in the second half but Rosmini never gave up and clinched the win 5-3 with a late try – both teams lost very close semi-finals in the Wider Auckland Under 69Kg A grade. Westlake 5A team overwhelmed Massey 31-0 in the other big fixture on the Oval. Rosmini put away Westlake 17-7 in the 6A final but Westlake took the silverware 15-5 in the 7^th grade championship.
