On Saturday the 10th of December The Blues had the first of two development days held at the new Blues High Performance Centre in Greenlane.
The first day was all about learning what it takes to become a professional rugby player, physically and mentally. Blues players and past U17-squad graduates Rieko Ioane, Ofa Tu’ungafasi, Sam Nock, Jordan Trainor, and TJ Faiane – alongside Head Coach Tana Umaga and U18 development squad member Caleb Clarke came in and talked with the young players about what it takes and their pathway to the blues. Chief Executive Michael Redman, Mental Skills Coach Kylie Wilson, Doctor Stephen Kara, Nutritionist Dave Shaw, Strength and Conditioning Coach John Ryan, and Personal Development Manager Victoria Hood were all on hand to help out and talk about how things work at the Blues and what the Blues mean to them.
Day two is in the new year where they will be doing more rugby-specific work.
