Final round of Premier 1 Football 2016

Some massive opportunities for those who dare this weekend in this the final round of the Premier 1 Competition. The fate of 3 clubs vying for the ultimate finals berth could hinge on the results of tomorrows games with the most juiciest of those being the top of the table clash between Takapuna and Massey.

Takapuna have been beaten only once this season but despite that could still finish 3rd in the competition and lose their "rest" week next week should they lose to a hard charging Massey side that have really found their feet in recent weeks. If Takapuna do lose and in beating them Massey do not secure a bonus point, both sides could be overtaken by 3rd place North Shore who should do the business over Marist and secure maximum points.

The Takapuna Massey match offers a real mix of styles - the conservative approach of Takapuna against the hustle and bustle of Massey.

North Shore will have taken note of Marist's first win of the season last week and should not go into that fixture lightly. With the return of one of their favourite sons and the injection of a couple of young guns, Marist looked good for their 4 points last week and will have nothing to lose in tomorrows fixture.

The other fixture to get really excited about is 4th placed East Coast Bays home fixture over 5th placed Northcote - only 2 points behind them. Regardless of ehat happens here these two teams will face each other in the play-offs next week, with a win to either side securing that side a home fixture - something that their club management will be thrilled about. In the two other fixtures, Glenfield will finish in 6th place regardless of their result over Mahurangi and will be preparing themselves to take on which ever team finishes 3rd in the knock-out round next week.

Finally Silverdale will take on Western, with Western wanting to finish of their round robin with a win to erase memories of last weeks loss to Marist.

Next week is the knock-out final round with the 1st and 2nd place teams having the byes; 3rd will take on 6th (Glenfield) with 4th taking on 5th in the other knock out game.

This weeks matches are:
