North Harbour Representative Round-Up for 8/9 September

The Under 19 team continue to fly the Harbour flag with the fourth win of their campaign. They finished top seed of the Blues region round of games with three W’s and now have edged Tasman who were second in the South Island seeding round, in a top 8 quarter-final 28-25 on Sunday at the Jock Hobbs Memorial Under 19 Tournament in Taupo.  Harbour started with the wind off the Lake behind them and got out to a comfortable 25-10 lead at half-time but in the second stanza took their foot off the pace and Tasman bounced back with the wind at their backs.  Harbour eventually consolidated assisted  by reserve flanker Sam Johnston subbing on and securing two crucial turnovers to rally the defence and carry the day for Harbour aided by a Heighton penalty.  Point scorers were Brad McNaughton 2 tries, Thomas Barham a try and Jack Heighton kicked well for 2 conversions and  3 penalties.   Mercurial Tamarau McGahan was player of the day.  They now face a rampant Bay of Plenty side on Wednesday at 2.30pm in the top 4 semi-finals who chocked up a cricket score against Hawkes Bay on Sunday and dominated the Chiefs region seeding round, but is fair to say they have not been tested this season. 

The Farah Palmer Cup Hibiscus Women secured their first win of season overwhelming Taranaki  59 nil in New Plymouth.  Mens B/2^nd XV were edged by Auckland A 37-39 at Windsor Park with a late try from their strong outside backs after exchanging the lead several times throughout the game.   The U85 team remain winless this season going down 26-29 in another close one versus Thames Valley Development at Windsor Park.   The Under 18 Girls started the season at Mahurangi hosting a strong and fit Northland side to lose 5-36.  The U16 White team played at Silverdale and came away with a  5-62 loss to the talented visitors from Auckland West. The U16 Cardinal vs Auckland Central fixture was deferred to Wednesday 19 September due to player unavailability in the Auckland side.   The two U14 teams also playing at Silverdale struggled against strong Auckland teams with U14 White losing 7-45 to Auckland West and the Cardinal side going down 0-24 to Auckland Central. 

For the coming weekend 15/16 September the Farah Palmer Cup Hibiscus Women have the first home game hosting Tasman on Sunday 16 September in a Championship game, who had a similar score against Taranaki in their first game.  It is a double header at QBE stadium with Mitre 10 Cup side and the Women kicking off at 11.35am.  On Saturday 15 September the Mens B/2^nd XV travel to Manurewa RFC to play second placed Counties Manukau  and the U85 are at the same venue looking for their first win against third placed Counties on two wins.  The U18 Girls travel out west to Waitemata RFC to play Auckland West.  The U16 and U14 teams are also at Waitemata RFC with the White teams playing Auckland South and the Cardinal teams up against Auckland East for their last pool games.     U16 and U14 cross-over finals are at Auckland Marist 22 September.  The Roller Mills continue to build up for their campaign at the 6-13 October Tournament in Cambridge at St Peters College.
