North Harbour U18 Girls Win 35-20 over Auckland East

North Harbour U18 Girls win 35- 20 over Auckland East

The North Harbour Girls put in an exceptional effort against a determined and strong Auckland East Team. The Girls took a lot away from their last game having lost 19 – 22 to Auckland West, notably to play their systems for longer and the importance of time in territory. A great lead up during the week saw us start strong gaining ascendancy in the first half where territory and pressure resulted in points. Auckland came back strong at the start of the second half resulting in North Harbour Girls spending far too much time camped in their 22.  Outstanding leadership from key players saw the Girls regain composure and territory.   With ten minutes to go the Girls came to life taking the game to Auckland scoring a great try in the corner then gaining a penalty out in front that was converted, to give us a 15 point lead. The North Harbour team has been well lead by an exceptional captain Madi Wells, keeping the team focused and leading from the front. All the team played exceptional to take a win for the first time ever against Auckland East, with great performances from Sophie Fisher who’s kicking game was crucial, and a dominant half back performance by Sativa Tarau-Peehikuru. Devastating ball in hand attacking by Isla Norman Bell and a solid smart performance by Kate Williams.

The North Harbour Girls head to the WAIKATO next weekend to take on those of the Chiefs region. Returning to the team will be two of the three Secondary Girls who have been playing in the Farah Palmer Cup.

Tries: Caitlin Cox, Sativa Tarau-Peehikuru 2, Isla Norman-Bell, Sophie Fisher 1,
