#ourtime - Harbour Hibiscus emphatic winners again

The North Harbour Hibiscus, our top women's side, took out the  NZ Women's Rugby Invitational tournament for the second year in a row - defending the title they won in  2015.

The team now move onto the Farah Palmer Cup, with a jersey launch tonight at the East Cost Bays club followed by their first competition game against Bay of Plenty in Rotorua on Saturday.

The tournament, played last weekend, showcased developing teams from Northland, Taranaki and Wellington and second teams from Waikato and Auckland. The Hibiscus team beat Taranaki 62-0 and Auckland Development 33-0 before dispatching Waikato Development 24 -0 in the final.

The tournament was well supported by local fans, with one of the many highlights being the two curtain raisers - girls teams from Browns Bay Primary, Silverdale Primary and newly form Club Rippa teams East Coast Bays and Helensville. These young girls got to play on QBE Stadium and then formed the guard of honour for their bigger counterparts playing in the feature matches.

The Hibiscus team have wrapped up the pre-season phase of their campaign and now head to Rotorua for their first Farah Palmer Cup (Women's NPC) game of 2016 against Bay of Plenty this Saturday. The team looks forward to your support in what is a challenging and exciting season ahead.
