Two changes to the starting line-up from last weeks opening round win highlight the team to take on Waikato in this Saturdays Ranfurly Shield Challenge.
With the elevation of James Parsons into the All Blacks squad, Steve Jackson has promoted Vyron Smith into the No. 2 jersey and has also promoted Bryn Gatland off the bench and into the First Five starting position.
Jackson comments “We were stoked to learn of James’ inclusion into the All Blacks this week and even more delighted to hear he has been named in their squad for this weekends match. James deserves this opportunity and we know he will do everything he can to remain in the mix long term”. With this change, Jackson has installed Chris Vui as Captain for the weekend “Chris did a great job for us with the captains arm band during our pre-season fixtures. He is in great form and his leadership has been fantastic on and off the field. The man has a lot of respect from his team mates and we know he will rise to this opportunity”.
On his other change, Jackson said "Bryn Gatland showed some touches of class when he came on last weekend and will relish the opportunity to start against his old province”.
Harbour have two debutantes on the bench in loose forward - Connor Collett and Hooker Kalem Chan Boon.
“All the boys are excited for this game. There is no point pretending it is just another fixture. The Ranfurly Shield means something to them all and they are embracing this and really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
