It is with much regret that Harbour Rugby advise the passing of James Slater of North Harbour Rugby Referees Association on Monday 12 February.
James was Chairman of the NHRRA for seven years from 2006 to 2013. He was on the NHRRA executive for several years prior to that in selection, appointing and coaching roles, he refereed up to Premier club level and had been an active referee for NHRRA since the mid-1990’s.
James worked hard for the NHRRA and had a great relationship with the Union, clubs and the rugby community.
He will be sadly missed and our deepest condolences go to his wife Gaynor, children, wider family and friends.
James’ funeral will be held in the Northern Lounge on Level 1 of QBE Stadium at 11am on Saturday 17 February.
