Next Monday night (17th October) at QBE stadiums Domain One and Two, the first round of the U15 Girls Seven’s Development Module kicks off. This module is run over four Monday nights (17th Oct, 31st Oct, 7th Nov and 14th Nov). It is a great development opportunity for those younger secondary school girls to give seven’s a go without the daunting usual open weight grade. Each team will play two games per night in a round robin format throughout the module. The module will provide all important rugby experience to these players before the next rugby season comes around next year. By targeting this age group with sevens our plan is to get these girls and more teams into our 10’s competition to further strengthen the rugby at secondary school level.
This module was a new initiative introduced last year, intended to bridge the gap in secondary school rugby between the juniors and seniors. The success of the module last year has increased the number of school entries this year. This is another step in our pathway to continue the growth of women’s rugby in the North Harbour Region. Come down and support the girls on Monday nights from 4pm-6pm.
