The U21 grade semi-finals saw East Coast Bays down 0-15 in the Championship semi-final at Windsor Park but turned it around to defeat Takapuna 21-15. Kumeu put away North Shore 27-0 in a comfortable win at Riverhead to book a date at QBE Stadium. In the Plate semi’s Massey overwhelmed Silverdale 64-0 and Marist had a convincing 36-7 win over Northcote. Mahurangi won the Bowl trophy.
In the U85 Championship semi-finals evergreen and unbeaten North Shore put away Kumeu 23-8 at Vauxhall to take the top-seed position for the final at QBE stadium. Takapuna edged Northcote in the other semi-final 20-5 to take on their old rival and try to achieve a back to back finals win. North Shore finished 20 competition points ahead of the next team so it will be a big ask for Taka. In the Plate semi’s Mahurangi was tied up 3-all with East Coast Bays up at Warkworth at full-time and after a missed penalty kick and 5 minutes of extra time, scored a converted try to go on to the final. Silverdale struggled to contain the young Massey side earlier in the match but got out to an 18-7 win to take the other Plate final position. Helensville won the Bowl by default over the depleted Navy side.
This Saturday 13/8 the finals format is as follows: QBE Stadium. Access is from 12.30pm and entry is free. Will be another great day of Colts and 85s rugby action!
